Summary

Family Separation Allowance (FSA) is payable to service members with dependent family members when the service member is required to be away from their permanent duty station for more than 30 continuous days in a Temporary Duty (TDY) status and their dependents are not residing at or near the temporary station.

Drilling Air Force Reserve Service members are not usually eligible for Family Separation Allowance.  However, when activated for annual training for a period of more than 30 days Family Separation Allowance may apply.
